TeuxDeux and WBTDL both value a short, readable task list. They disagree about the anchor. TeuxDeux places tasks on days. WBTDL places them in categories, then lets you pull a few into High Priority and mark what is open, done, waiting, or skipped.
If you plan by asking “Which day will I do this?”, TeuxDeux has the clearer model. If you ask “What kind of work is this, and what is holding it up?”, WBTDL may fit better.
| Question | TeuxDeux | WBTDL |
|---|---|---|
| Daily plan | Tasks live on dated daily lists | High Priority is selected without assigning dates |
| Unfinished work | Unfinished tasks roll to the following day | Open and waiting tasks remain on the list through rollover |
| Later work | Someday lists organized in tabs | Categories hold work until it becomes a priority |
| Task support | Recurring tasks, notes, daily email, and mobile apps | Nested tasks and statuses, with no notes or recurring rules |
TeuxDeux makes the day the planning surface
TeuxDeux places to-dos on a dated timeline and rolls unfinished items to the next day. Its home page also documents recurring tasks, optional daily-list email delivery, and synced iOS and Android apps. Work without a date can stay in Someday lists beneath the daily plan.
That model suits “Renew parking pass Friday” or a weekly review that should appear on the right day without being selected each morning. Notes can hold supporting detail while keeping the timeline compact. The official TeuxDeux product overview shows the daily layout and current mobile support.
WBTDL separates priority from the date
WBTDL has no dated task view or recurring rule. “Renew parking pass” stays under Personal until you add it to High Priority. If you are waiting for the renewal notice, the task can say waiting without being pushed from one date to the next.
This asks for a deliberate review. It also avoids treating every intention as a scheduled promise. The simple daily planning routine explains how to choose High Priority work alongside actual calendar commitments.
Rollover also means something different in each app. TeuxDeux carries an unfinished item into the following day, keeping it on the dated plan. WBTDL leaves open and waiting work in place, then archives done and skipped tasks at the rollover time. One preserves the daily schedule; the other preserves category and status.
Notice which review question feels natural in the morning. TeuxDeux asks you to look at the day in front of you. WBTDL asks you to choose from the categories that still contain active work.
Choose the kind of rollover you want
Choose TeuxDeux when assigning work to a day is how you make a realistic plan, or when recurring tasks and mobile apps are important. Its dated view is the main idea, not an optional extra.
Choose WBTDL when dates create repeated rescheduling and a waiting status would describe the work more honestly. There is no TeuxDeux importer. Transfer one week by hand. Check whether you looked for today's column or for the task's category and status. Keep the structure you reached for.
