An AI assistant connected to World's Best To-Do List (WBTDL) through MCP can read active tasks, create tasks and categories, update task status and High Priority, share eligible pages, and assign tasks to page members. Its access follows the WBTDL account you sign in with, including pages shared with that account.
The connection gives the assistant tools it can use during your conversation. It doesn't mean that adding a task will make an assistant start working on it by itself.
What can it read or change?
- Read the active list
- Retrieve up to 500 non-archived tasks per call, with status and High Priority filters. Results include pages, categories, assignees, and shared-page member details such as names and email addresses.
- Add work
- Create a task, a subtask of an existing task, or a category on an existing page. Task titles can contain up to 200 characters. Name the destination so the assistant can find the right category first.
- Change status or priority
- Set a task to open, done, waiting, or skipped. Add or remove High Priority. These are changes to the list; marking “Send invoice” done doesn't send an invoice.
- Share a page
- Share an existing page you own, other than the Default page, by email. This can give an existing user access immediately or invite someone new, subject to the owner's team seat limits. It can send an invitation email.
- Assign a task
- Assign a task on a shared page to a member of that page. The assistant must identify an actual member; a person's name in the task title isn't an assignment.
What isn't available through these tools?
The current MCP tools don't delete or rename existing tasks, move existing tasks between categories, create pages, retrieve archived History, or change your settings or password. They don't record meetings, read email, book calendar time, or send timed task reminders.
Another tool in your assistant may offer some of those outside capabilities. That's separate from the WBTDL connection. Likewise, an assistant's estimate of task duration is its own estimate, not a value supplied by your WBTDL list.
Can I restrict it to one category in a prompt?
You can ask it to work only in a named category, and that's a useful instruction. It doesn't change the connection's technical permissions. The account may also have access to other personal or shared work. Check the tools and controls your assistant makes available before enabling the connection.
For a small first request, ask it to read the list without changing anything. Before sharing, specify the page and exact email address and check the proposed action. Client confirmation behavior varies; don't assume every change will require a separate approval button.
How do I connect or stop using it?
Follow the guides for ChatGPT or Claude, or use the endpoint on our MCP page. Sign in through the connection's OAuth flow rather than pasting your password into a chat. To stop using it in a client, use that client's disconnect or removal controls; manage each connected client separately.
